"For the last 6 months we have been backing up our ASG Cypress database on a nightly basis. This backup is taken to an offsite location overnight in case of a major disaster in our datacenter. The backup job was completing successfully every night and there didn’t appear to be any issues. We started working with DB Verify a few months back and they suggested that I consider signing up for their database verification service. I didn’t think this would be necessary since we weren’t having any problems but I decided to restore one of our backups to an external hard drive and send it in for verification just to be sure. A week or so later DB Verify contacted me and reported that our backup was not restorable. A problem on our Server was allowing the backup to run but rendering it useless for restoration purposes. DB Verify worked with me to correct the issue on our server and confirmed that our backup software was setup correctly. The next backup we sent to DB Verify was confirmed to be fully restorable. We have just signed up for a full year of database verification through DB Verify and I am very pleased with this service."
